The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager will manage environmental, health, safety, security, and workers compensation issues for United Industries, Home & Garden Division at the Vinita Park Facility. This position will play a key role in providing a safe and healthy workplace for each of our employees while ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. Job Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental, health, safety, and sustainability activities in support of local, group, and corporate initiatives.
  • Utilize electronic EHS Safety Management Systems for managing safety metrics for the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to EHS either by representing, or assisting representation of the company in all contact with regulatory agencies.
  • Plan, implement, and manage policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Plan, implement, and manage programs to train managers and employees in work site safety and environmental practices, including but not limited to fire prevention, lockout/tagout, hazardous waste handling, spill prevention and control, chemical hygiene/safety, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and hazard communication.
  • Serve in a leadership role on the plant-wide Safety Committee, including facilitation of safety campaigns and safety-related communications.
  • Coordinate and lead site emergency action planning; including coordination with local Police and Fire Departments, and scheduling of emergency drills.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Program guidelines, including facilitation and scheduling of Process Hazard Analyses, submittal of Risk Management Plans, and training of affected personnel.
  • Conduct facility specific audits to evaluate EHS compliance and improvement plans; report results to site and corporate leadership and implement correction and improvement procedures in collaboration with employees.
  • Perform, submit, and maintain all environmental reporting as required by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Compile, maintain and submit safety and accident-related statistics required by the organization as well as all regulatory agencies.
  • Support the workers¿ compensation program, by providing accident-related information, investigation, corrective plans and return to work/modified work suggestion to reduce employee lost time.

  • Bachelor"s Degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Engineering or equivalent field of study preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an EHS role with demonstrated knowledge of applicable environmental health and safety regulations required.
  • Manufacturing facility experience is required.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management/Risk Management Planning a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills to determine root cause, resolve operational failures and establish corrective/preventative actions.
  • Ability to analyze, plan and manage to goal attainment.
  • Be a driver of EHS requirements and capable of coordinating the design, build, and implementation of quality solutions to problems.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor and as a facilitator for work teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and collaborate with site leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide hands-on training and coaching.
  • Demonstrated success in managing systems and processes.
  • Extremely motivated and a passion for tackling challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership, presentation, and training skills.
  • Strong organization and planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • PC skills (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations).

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Approximately 50% office and 50% in the manufacturing facilities.

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated between $55.29 - $55.29 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the shift you work and other considerations permitted by law.
